Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  Why should I book my hunt with Bustin-Geese Outfitters?
A:
For 2008 we have hunters booked from Seattle Washington all the way down to Miami Florida.  We hunt over the best equipment that money can buy and we update our equipment yearly.  We hunt over full body and 5/8 Avery snow goose decoys which consist of a 70/30 split between snow and blues.  We also hunt out of Power Hunter layout blinds because we have found through experience that these blinds are the easist to pack and also the best for concealing hunters.  One thing that we can guarantee is that you will be hunting over the best equipment in the state, including our custom built electronic call system.

Q:  When should I book my hunt in order to have the best odds of killing lots of geese?
A:
Geese are here today and gone tommorrow only to show up again the next day, so a successfull hunt unfortunately almost always depends on the current weather conditions.  February is a good month for numbers and we kill more than our fair share that month.  March seems to be a good month for geese that are more willing to decoy due to a higher number of juveniles flying up from the coast.

Q:  Can I bring my lab to hunt?
A:
Dogs are welcome but not recommended. We provide dogs that have been trained to our standards to make your hunting experience easy and fun.

Q:  What kind of boots do I need to hunt at Bustin-Geese Outfitters?
A:
You may need knee boots or chest waders depending on the geese.  We plan to follow them so be prepared for all conditions.

Q:  What kind of weather should I expect?
A:
Well, the weather in Arkansas is notorious for changing one day to the next, so be prepared for mild to cold conditions.  The average high temperature from February - May is 40 - 70 degrees F.

Q:  What size shot do you recommend for geese?
A:
  For Geese we recommend 3" or 3-1/2" 1's, BB's, or BBB's.

Q:  What is the maximum limit of geese I can take during a day?
A:
There is no limit on snow geese in the state of Arkansas during the conservation hunt.

Q:  Do I need a hunting license for goose season?
A:
The answer is "yes" during duck season and "no" during spring goose season.  For the Spring season you will have to call 1-800-364-GAME for a free snow goose hunting permit.  You are also required to bring an out-of-state hunting license for this hunt.
